Development of care system for sepsis patients in Emergency room. Phayakkhaphumphisai Hospital. Mahasarakham Province

Abstract

ABSTRACT 

            Objective : Development of care system for sepsis patients Emergency room.           

            Research design and methods : This research is a research and development project. From February 1, 203 – September 30, 2023, the sample group consisted of 1) personnel, including 16 doctors and nurses. and 2) sepsis patients Purposeful selection of 51 people was carried out in 3 phases: preparation, implementation, implementation and evaluation of the model. Research tools include a manual and a system for caring for sepsis patients. Data collection tools: 1) Indicator data recording form 2) System compliance assessment form 3) Personnel satisfaction questionnaire. Data were analyzed using descriptive statistics. and compare the means using paired t-test statistics, significant level at 0.05.

            Results : The patients care system with sepsis consists of structural aspects. Process And outcome, after implementing the system, it was found that the average knowledge score of registered nurse increased from 27.50 to 36.62. The number of patients screened for Sepsis fast track increased from 62.50 percent to 94.12 percent. Blood sampling for culture before giving antibiotics to patients with sepsis increased from 45.83 percent to 100.00 percent. The rate of patients with sepsis receiving antibiotics within 1 hour after diagnosis increased from 100. Each 41.66 is 100.00 percent. And the rate of receiving intravenous fluid 30 ml./kg./hr increased from 41.66 percent to 98.03 percent, and there were no deaths at the end of treatment. Compliance with the model was 100 percent. Overall personnel satisfaction was at a high level which the knowledge score value and satisfaction Statistically significantly increased (p-value< 0.001)

            Conclusions : The developed system for caring for patients with bloodstream infections can reduce complications and reduce death rates.
