ABSTRACT

        The purposes of the research were to identify causal factors affecting Self-management behavior among Old-Aged patients Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease at Mahasarakham Province, to design a Self-management model for the Old-Aged patients with Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease. The quantitative research was employed for the study, which focused on analyzing the causal factors affecting directly and indirectly Self-management behavior of the Old-Aged patients with Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease at Mahasarakham Province. The data were collected from three hundred and thirty four Old-Aged patients with Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease at Mahasarakham Province by questionnaires. The samples were selected by the multistage random sampling and simple random sampling methods.  The data were analyzed by Multiple Linear Regression Analysis and Structural Equation Model: SEM. LISREL for windows was employed for Path Analysis. Results of the research were as follows: Regarding the relationships between the causal factors and the empirical data, the findings indicated that nine factors significantly affected the Self-management behaviors of the patients. The factors consisted of Knowledge, Health Belief, Social support, Family support, Perceived self-efficacy, major depressive disorder, Attitude, participation and motivation.
