Relationship between Health Literacy and Preventive behavior for Cardiovascular Disease among Health Volunteers
Abstract
The objective of this study was to explore relationship between health literacy and behavioral prevention and control of cardiovascular diseases among the public health volunteers. The questionnaire surveys were conducted among 350 public health volunteers from 16 District Health Promotion Hospitals in Mueng District, Chonburi Province between January 2018 and March 2018.Data were analyzed using frequency , percentage and Pearson’s Product Moment Correlation CoefficientThe results were as follows : health literacy on cognitive performance was in high level
(44.85 percent), health literacy on information access and health services was in low level (40 percent),
on communication skill was in moderate level (45.71 percent), on decision-making was in high level
(46.85 percent), on self-management was in moderate level (42.85 percent), and on media literacy was in moderate level (40 percent). For the prevention and control of cardiovascular disease,the majority of the volunteers had behavioral prevention and control of cardiovascular diseases in moderate level (36.28 percent). For the relationship between health literacy and behavioral prevention and control of cardiovascular disease, there was a positive relationship with statistical significance of 0.05 and the correlation coefficient of 0.519
