Factors Relating to Zika Virus Prevention Behavior among Pregnant Women in Sai-Ngam District, Kamphaeng Phet Province

Abstract

This research aimed to assess the disease prevention behavior and factors associated with Zika disease among pregnant women. The samples were 190 pregnant women in Sai-Ngam district, Kamphaeng Phet province. A questionnaire together with test form was adopted as research instruments. The data were analyzed by using descriptive statistics, Pearson correlation and Eta test. It was found that most participants aged ranging from 15-17 years old (52.69%). The highest level of education was in the junior high school, being employees and gestational aged between 17-28 weeks (35.49%). The factors related to Zika virus prevention behavior included knowledge (23.12%), information perception (56.45%), perceived severity (60.22%), perceived benefits (43.01%) and perceived barriers to disease (46.78%), which were significantly correlated with Zika disease prevention (p<0.05). Therefore, the relevant agencies should further publicize campaign, provide correct education regarding the Zika virus and its prevention behavior in pregnant women.
