JOB SATISFACTION AMONG NURSES AND PATIENT SATISFACTION WITH NURSING CARE IN ORTHOPEDIC DEPARTMENT OF PHICHIT HOSPITAL

Abstract

    The purpose of this study was to study job satisfaction among nurses and patient satisfaction with nursing care in Orthopedic Department of Phichit Hospital. The subjects were 16 staff nurses and 175 patients. The instrument used in this study was two questionnaire. One questionnaire for nurses  composed of 2 part ;  part I was on personal and part II was a job satisfaction.  The second  questionnaire was  for patient, composed of two part : Part I  was a personal data and part II was on patient satisfaction with nursing care. Part II of  both questionnaire was developed by Kunaviktikul et al. (2000)1 with a Content Validity Index of 0.85 and 0.90 and reliability of 0.70 and 0.93 for nurse satisfaction and patient satisfaction, respectively. In this study reliability were 0.90 and 0.94. Statistics  used for data analysis were frequency, percentage, the mean and standard deviation.

    The results of the study showed that the overall job satisfaction among nurses in Orthopedic Department of Phichit Hospital  was at a moderate level, and each part, job quality, professional work environment, benefit, professional relationship and participation were at a moderate level, however, chance for advancement was at a low level.  Patient satisfaction with nursing care in Orthopedic Department of Phichit Hospital overall was at a moderate level.

    The results of this study can be used for the improvement of job satisfaction of nurse and patient satisfaction with nursing care.
