Abstract

The aims of this research and development were to study the effectiveness of a model for promoting health literacy and health behaviors for people of Working Group between 35-59 years old in MuangKhonKaen District. With screening results confirming the risk of chronic non-communicable diseases. The samples used were 60 people by random sampling, the equipment for collected the data were interview and Focus Group Discussions. The data were analyzed by percentage, mean and t-test. The research results were as follows, Before the development of each aspect found that most of them were at the moderate level in 5 areas, namely, cognitive knowledge 41.7% ( x ̅=6.0 SD=1.87 Max=10 Min=2), Access to information and health services 48.0% ( x ̅=6.5 SD=1.45 Max=10 Min=2), health communication 56.7% ( x ̅=10.06 SD=1.45 Max=15 Min=5), self-management 61.7% ( x ̅=16.83 SD=3.04 Max= 25 Min=9), and health behaviors 68.3% ( x ̅=32.96 SD=6.59 Max= 43 Min=17). And most of them were at good level in 2 aspects, namely media literacy 75.0% ( x ̅=8.18 SD=1.29 Max= 10 Min=5), In terms of discrimination decision-making skills 48.7% ( x ̅=14.90 SD= 3.29 Max= 20 Min=5). A model for promoting health literacy and health behaviors of Working Group was developed, by participation process starting from planning, seeking cooperation and using social capital. A study of community needs Design activities to promote health literacy and health behaviors implement the plan by developing the knowledge and skills of Working Group. Communication access to information Media Literacy decisionmaking and self-management after that together, observe and reflect on the results. After the study found The moderate level increased in 2 aspects, namely, access to information and health services 58.3% ( x ̅=7.18 SD=1.27 Max=10 Min=5), health communication 58.3% (x ̅=10.76 SD=2.05 Max=15 Min=7). And the good level increased in 5 areas, namely, cognitive knowledge 35.0%, self-management 30.0% ( x ̅=17.48 SD=2.75 Max= 25 Min=13), media literacy 86.7% ( x ̅=8.93 SD=1.12 Max=10 Min=6), discrimination decision-making skills 55.0% ( x ̅=15.50 SD=2.74 Max=20 Min=8) and health behavioral 25.0%, with all aspects having a statistically significant increase in mean scores (p=<0.05). Knowledge of health and health behaviors Activities and assessments should be continued at regular intervals to ensure they are consistent with the changing context. And encourage the persistence of knowledge and health behaviors.
