Effects of pain management with cold compress in patients after leg bone fixation surgery in orthopedic wards
Abstract
Abstract
Quasi Experimental Research of pain management effect with cold compress in patients after leg bone fixation surgery Orthopedic wards Sawang Dandin Crown Prince Hospital by measuring the pain score after surgery. The frequency of postoperative pain relievers and how long the pain can be managed after surgery There were 48 samples, divided into 2 groups: 24of the experimental group received pain management with cold compress. and 24 of the control group received regular nursing care. The tools used for data collection included the Thai Short-Form McGill Pain Questionnaire (Th-SFMPQ) Pain Assessment Form. Postoperative pain levels were measured immediately at h 4, 8, 16, 24, 32, 40, and 48. Data were analyzed using descriptive and inferential statistics, independent t-test.
The results showed that the mean pain score of the experimental group was lower than the control group mean pain score of the experimental group. 1.66, 1.79, 1.83, 1.62, 1.70, 0.91, 0.79 and 0.45, respectively, the mean pain score control group. 5.04, 5.00, 5.83, 4.62, 3.87, 3.41, 3.00 and 2.83, respectively. Both pain groups began to decline continuously at 16 hours when comparing the mean pain score of the experimental group lower than the control group at the implied level. Statistically significant (p-value < 0.05). The frequency of pain relievers in the experimental group at 1.58 times and in the control group at 2.50 times were statistically different (p-value = 0.016). There was a statistically significant difference in the duration of pain management in the experimental group of 3.54 hours and in the control group 11.50 hours (p-value = 0.01).
The results of this research It can be used to develop care for patients after leg bone fixation surgery. Holistic by a multidisciplinary team by creating a guideline for caring for patients after leg bone fixation surgery Pain Management with Cold Compress can be used in practice helpful to the patient under professional standards.
