Development of Nursing Practice Guidelines for Pregnant Women with Severe Pre-eclampsia at the Delivery Room, Chaiyaphum Hospital

Abstract
The purpose of this research was to develop a nursing practice guideline for pregnant women with severe pre-eclampsia at the delivery room, Chaiyaphum Hospital by applying the Iowa model concept. The target group were five senior midwifery nurses at the delivery room, Chaiyaphum Hospital. The guideline was applied to 60 pregnant women with severe pre-eclampsia. The study has been performing from December 2021 to June 2022. The instruments used in the study included: 1) demographic and illness data record 2) Nursing Practice Guideline for Patients with severe pre-eclampsia Pregnant Women at the Delivery Room, Chaiyaphum Hospital; and Assessment Form for Compliance with Guidelines through a Content Validation Examination by experts. with reliability coefficient of 0.78
The results of the study found that:
1. The guidelines developed for nursing pregnant women with severe pre-eclampsia were obtained for the delivery room, Chaiyaphum Hospital.
2. Most of the pregnant women with severe pre-eclampsia were aged between 24-33 years (60%), with the first pregnancy (33%), gestational age 35-37 weeks (65%), and with abdominal cesarean section for delivery (84%) there were no complications in pregnant women with severe pre eclampsia.
3. The practice guidelines developed during the latent phase. The registered nurses able to follow all 10 items (100%). In the active phase, able to comply with all 9 items (100%) eighth, able to perform (83%) including respiratory and O2 saturation every hour assessment due to the termination of normal delivery and performing abdominal caesarean section instead.
The results of this study found that the developed nursing practice guidelines can be put into practice and applied to suit the characteristics of each department
