Development of Substance Abuse Prevention and Solution Model in TO BE NUMBER ONE Campaign by Community Participation, Na-nok-Khien Village, Nhongno Sub-district, Muang District, Mahasarakham Province

Abstract

Abstract

 Introduction : Adolescents are the main group of substance abuse that need to being empowered with resilience quotient. Therefore, the development of TO BE NUMBER ONE campaign by community participation should be done with an appropriated community context. Moreover, an application of this advanced program be supposed to a closed area.

Objectives : 1) This study to investigate a current situation of substance abuse prevention and resolution of TO BE NUMBER ONE campaign. 2) to develop the model of substance abuse prevention and solution of TO BE NUMBER ONE campaign by community participation. 3) to evaluate the effective of substance abuse prevention and solution in TO BE NUMBER ONE campaign by community participation model.

Methodology : A three loops participatory action research applying from the theory of Kemmis and Mctaggart (1988) was carried out over 1st October 2019 to 31st July 2023. 100 samples were selected via purposive sampling. Content analysis were use for Qualitative data and descriptive statistics for quantitative data.

Results : 1) During 2016 – 2018, new drug addicts aged 10 – 25 were increasing while treatment group turned to drug use. Even though community had a preventive campaign, number of substance abuse was rising. By year 2016 TO BE NUMBER ONE campaign was selected to be prevention and solution program but pattern and operation were not continued.

                        2) Three loops of the program were done under the concept of committees, three activities, and three Strategy. Campaign activities that interesting, safe from drug and up to date were set from the member need and transferred from senior to junior, network parties integration until reached to an appropriated community context. This model was performed 5 steps were performed 1) gather together 2) join forces 3) tenderly love 4) join together 5) continue working

                        3) Results found that 100% of substance abuse adolescences were under the one year follow up and over than 90% were found a high level of satisfaction

Conclusion: All steps participation of network parties including all level of strengthen support heading to the effective and appropriated model. This success model was extended to two sub-district of Mahasarakham Province and other three provinces.
