The Development of Integrated Care Program in Drug Abuse Patients with Psychiatric Disorders, Maha Sarakham Province

Drug abuse patients with psychiatric disorders have had a high risk for self- directed and others-directed violence. Therefore, participation care program by network organization should be developed. This action research aimed to investigate situation of drug abuse patients with psychiatric disorders attentiveness for caring development program and evaluate the effectiveness of integrated care program in drug abuse patients with psychiatric disorders, Maha Sarakham Province. Research was carried out over 1st October 2023 – January 2024. All 185 participants and co-investigators were responsible officer for drug addiction, district public health, bailiff of all districts, backbone of all communities and representative police. Qualitative and quantitative data were collected. Qualitative data were analyzed by content analysis method and quantitative data were used number and percentage. Results illustrated that by the year 2022, drug abuse patients with psychiatric disorders problem should be solved by network organization, owing to databased of drug abuse patients with psychiatric disorders were not recorded and interrelated process. Because of these reason, patients were not screened and appropriated cared. As a consequence, program development was performed with appointing committees from provincial and district level, analyzing situation, developing personnel potential, establishing drug screening center for all sub-districts, educational training for caring and referring, allocating organization responsibilities, returning data to involved people for searching problem and guideline of each circles until the reach the integrated program. Program actions were pre-hospital care, in-hospital care and continuous care after discharge, these activities were done together with 4 networks. The development of integrated care program in drug abuse patients with psychiatric disorders was done by cooperation of network. Therefore, the program effectiveness was appropriated with context of area.
