Abstract

Abstract

            Objectives : To study the effects of pharmaceutical care in tuberculosis patients atKudrang hospital, Mahasarakham province

            Methods : This is a comparative study with a before and after intervention study, which is divided into 2 groups: the group before receiving pharmaceutical care. Data were collected from retrospective medical records between October 2022 - September 2023 for 84 cases and the group after received pharmaceutical care. which collected information about pharmaceutical care between October 2023 - April 2024, totaling 48 cases. Data were collected using a basic data recording form. Form for monitoring adverse drug reactions , Form of drug related problems and a form recording pharmaceutical care activities for tuberculosis patients.

            Results : The group after receiving pharmaceutical care recovered from tuberculosis, 48 ​​cases (100%), more than the group before receiving pharmaceutical care, 82 cases (97.62%),not statistically significant (p=0.223).Medication compliance was greater than or equal to 95 percent in the group receiving pharmaceutical care 48 cases (100 percent) more than the group before receiving pharmaceutical care 62 cases (73.81 percent) with statistical significance (p< 0.05) .Drug related problems in the group before receiving pharmaceutical care had the highest number of adverse drug reactions 64 cases (76.19%) more than those in the group after receiving pharmaceutical care 12 cases (25.00%) with statistical significance (p<0.05). And in terms of organizing pharmaceutical care activities in tuberculosis patients. Most knowledge about antituberculosis drugs was provided to TB patients at 40.32%. This problem can be solved by all pharmacists.

            Conclusion : This study found that the results of pharmaceutical care in tuberculosis patients at Kut Rang Hospital, Maha Sarakham Province results in better treatment results. This can be used as a guideline for developing drug use problems, adverse reactions from anti-TB drugs, caring for tuberculosis patients in collaboration with the multidisciplinary team in Kut Rang District.
