Abstract

Abstract

           This quasi – experimental research with a two groups pretest – posttest design aimed to determine the effectiveness of the information providing program on quality of life among the breast cancer patients receiving breast surgery. Subjects consisted of 50 breast cancer patients who followed–up after breast surgery at outpatient surgical department, Trang Hospital during July 2019 – February 2020. The control group received routine care while the experimental group received the information providing program. Data collection by the following research instrument included a demographic data recording form and the World Health Organization Quality of Life Assessment Instrument: WHOQOL-BREF-THAI. Data were analyzed by using the frequency, percentage, mean, paired t-test and independent t-test, significant at the level 0.05.

           Average score of overall quality of life and each aspect, including physical health, psychological and environment in experimental group after receiving the information program was higher than before receiving program with statistical significance at the level of 0.05. As for the quality of life in social relationship aspect before and after receiving the program were not significantly different. The average score of overall quality of life and each aspect, including physical health, psychological and environment in experimental group was higher than the control group with statistical significance at the level of 0.05. The quality of life in social relationship of the experimental group and the control group were not significantly different.
