Nursing care for Dengue Hemorrhagic Fever Patients (DHF) : A Case Study

Dengue hemorrhagic fever (DHF) is normally epidemic disease particularly in Southern of Thailand. This article aims to demonstrate the nursing process for care patients with DHF to prevent complication and to promote patient safety in Yan Ta Khao hospital, Trang Province. Method of study was used 2 case studies which indicated the differently time for early detection and difference nursing care plan. The firstly 49 year old woman was nearly late detection; diagnose the DHF disease in the third day of admission, whereas the secondly 20 year old woman was accurately early diagnosis on first day.
Nursing process in important to save patient’ life by manage the vital nursing activities and warning signs, Impaired Circulatory System Function from severe thrombocytopenia, closely. Moreover, reduce the transmission of DHF in community by coordinate the Surveillance and Rapid Response Team, as soon as possible. Recommendation of this study was showed that, in order to save patient, Yan Ta Khao hospital, Trang Province, should be develop clinical guideline for early detect DHF following the suggestion of World Health Organization and nursing guideline for prevent circulatory system collapse from severe thrombocytopenia before refer to the advanced hospital.
