Promoting Healthcare Healing Enviroment through Lkebana
Abstract
Abstract
The healing environment is the management of healthcare facilities and the built environment as part of the holistic treatment of patients. It has long been studied overseas, but it was originally noted in 2008 in Thailand. At the beginning, scholars focused on building design and managing the beautiful environment of healthcare facilities. But the aesthetic aspect, which is a critical element for patients’ health and well-being, is still limited. This article presents the implementation of promoting a healing environment through ikebana, the art of Japanese flower arrangement, in the palliative care ward, Hatyai Hospital. Results showed that the art of flower arrangement provided aesthetic healing space for holistic care and positive health outcomes in the physical, mental, social, and spiritual aspects of the patients, families, nurses, and healthcare staff.
