Nursing Care for Patients with Behavioral and Psychological Symptoms of Dementia at Home: Nursing Case Study Experience

Abstract

This article aims to share the experience of nursing care for behavioral and psychological symptoms of dementia, a common mental health issue, including delusions, hallucinations, apathy, anxiety, depression, and deviant emotions, perceptions, and behaviors. These issues can have significant impacts on patients, families, caregivers, and healthcare costs. If caregivers lack understanding and adaptability, they may experience stress, feelings of burden, and stigma. The case study findings highlight the importance of caregivers' and families' adaptation and acceptance of the patient's condition as the key to providing quality care and improving the patient's quality at the end of life. It is hoped that this article will be beneficial for readers, particularly caregivers.
