Abstract

The development of public health in Thailand has been associated with the monarchy institution since the Sukhothai period and in the Rattanakosin period (the Royal House of Chakri Dynasty) which are phased into 4 different eras as follows:

1. The era of Thai traditional medicine revival (1782-1851)

2. The era of civilization (1852-1916)

3. The era of pioneering modern medical and health services (1917-1929)

4. The era of the conception of the ministry of public health (1925-present)
