Abstract

            The COVID-19 pandemic continues to affect the global public health systems. Changes in lifestyle, diet, and physical activity have resulted in an exponential increase in the number of obese people around the world. Focus on enhancing everyone get healthy foods are key to improving health. The World Health Organization had defined a healthy diet that, in addition to providing energy and essential nutrients to the body, it also includes foods that reduced the incidence of non-communicable diseases. Although the root cause of obesity is excessive calorie intake compared with expenditure, the differences in gut microbial ecology between healthy and obese humans may affect energy homeostasis. Meanwhile, dysbiosis also affects the body's weakened immune system.

            Nowadays, the role of nutrition during the COVID-19 outbreak to help restore the healthy gut microbiome has received more attention. Plenty of research had shown that probiotics had health benefits. When consumed probiotics in effective dose, it could boost the immune system and control overweight and obesity. Therefore, the benefits of probiotics in promoting the health of overweight and obese people during the COVID-19 pandemic was the aim of study. Understanding the relationship between probiotics and obesity can play a guiding role in the research of probiotics and opening up a new path of weight loss.
