Development Direction of Health Promotional School Operation - แนวทางการพัฒนาโรงเรียนส่งเสริมสุขภาพ
Abstract
This participation action research was to study the direction of health promotional school operation with participatory process of students and, teachers in Baan Pha-ngad Wittaya school during October 2006 - September 2007. Employing purposive sampling method, health promotion staffs of 10 - 12 schools were key informants in focus group discussion and situation analysis. The tools used in evaluation phase were interviewing forms and questionnaire for 150 students. Descriptive statistics was used to analyze the data and presented in percent, mean and standard deviation. The qualitative data were verified using triangulation method in primary and secondary sources.
Baan Pha-ngad Wittaya school was a mid-size school. There were 347 students, 20 teachers and other personnel. It was classified as a health promotional school, but there remained some issues with students health behaviors. In AIC process, the teachers collectively would like to improve the school environment, health status and related management. As such, a committee participated by all sectors was set up with the mandate to identify obstacles and appropriate development plan. In a SWOT analysis, its strength and opportunity as an organization was confirmed and underlined a need for a standing committee. The outcome of the development; the overall environmental health activities, health services, studentsี health behavior and condition were evaluated showing noticeable good improvement.
