Proportion of Clients Visiting Accident and Emergency Department at Srinagarind Hospital Who Understand about the Emergency Medical Triage

Abstract

Background and Objective: Nowadays, Accident and Emergency Department could be access easily, but some clients do not understand adequately about the emergency medical triage. Therefore, the researchers aimed to study the proportion of clients visiting Accident and Emergency Department at Srinagarind hospital who understand about the emergency medical triage.

Methods: A descriptive study was conducted recruiting clients visiting Accident and Emergency Department at Srinagarind hospital between 3rd and 4th Aug 2017. The sample size was 95 people. A self-administered questionnaire was used and analyzed for frequency, proportion, median, interquartile range, P-value, and 95% CI

Result: 96.8 % of samples (92/95 people) answered the questionnaires. 69.2% of clients understood about the triage (95%CI: 58.6, 78.3). 62.5 % of clients knew about the emergency medical triage, 80.0% knew from Accident and Emergency Department visits. 48.9% of clients were least satisfied with waiting for doctors.

Conclusion:  69.2 % of the clients understood about the emergency medical triage. 62.5 % of clients knew about emergency medical triage, mainly from Accident and Emergency Department visits.
