Abstract

The primary objective of the study is to figure out the mortality rate of the operation process upon “traumatic intracranial hemorrhage” patients caused by accidence in Samut Sakhon Hospital during the outbreak of Covid-19 between the 20th of December 2020 to 20th of March 2021. This study was performed to compare with the study in the earlier period of the Covid-19 outbreak. There were 55 samples involved in this study which were divided into 35 samples before the covid-19 outbreak and 20 samples during the covid-19 outbreak. All data in terms of diagnosis, type of Covid-19 testing, the waiting time for result, the time interval period between the door to operating time, Glasgow Coma Scale at the emergency room and after hospitalization, Glasgow outcome Scale, unexpected complication and lastly mortality rate were collected and analyzed.

From the comparative result of samples before and during the outbreak of the virus, the outcome showed that Glasgow Outcome Scale was 3.6±1.6 and 3.4±1.6, resulting in a p-value of 0.70. The length of hospital stay was both 8 days (6,15) and 8 days (4,12) where the p-value was 0.68. Lastly, the rate of mortality was both 20% which not different in both group

In conclusion, the mortality rate of the surgical cases of traumatic intracerebral hemorrhage at Samut Sakhon Hospital during and before the outbreak of the Covid-19 are both around 20 percent. The numbers showed that the results of both periods were insignificantly different in a statistical way.
