SURVEILLANCE FOR ADVERSE REACTION TO FAVIPIRAVIR IN PATIENTS WITH COVID-19 IN PRANBURI HOSPITAL

Abstract

Abstract

          The study is a retrospective design collecting data from 1st April 2022 to 31st August 2022 in the all of patients who received treatment with favipiravir at Pranburi Hospital. The objective of study, first to study characteristics of patients receiving favipiravir and study adverse drug reactions in COVID- 19 patients treated with favipiravir. Data were analysed using descriptive statistics.

          The results of the study showed that the number of patients with COVID-19 who received treatment at Pranburi Hospital who received medication Favipiravir total 1,393 cases.  Most were female (55.28%), age over 60 years (51.32%), body weight 18-59 kg (63.46%), with congenital disease (55.78%). Most of the sample was asymptomatic or symptomatic covid- 19 with risk factors or mild pneumonia (87.80%). The duration of favipiravir was 5 days (99.28%) and no other drugs were used in the treatment of COVID-19 plus favipiravir (97.70%), the lung X-ray results were normal (46.37%). The normal blood oxygen (SpO2) test result was yes values ​​greater than 94 % (98.49%) and the patient had a history of receiving the highest 3 doses of COVID-19 vaccine (36.04%). Surveillance for adverse reactions from favipiravir was shown in patients with blue eyes, nausea, vomiting, dizziness, respectively.

          Therefore, COVID-19 patients who received favipiravir at Pranburi Hospital No serious adverse reactions were found. Only mild adverse reactions, such as blue eyes, nausea, vomiting, and dizziness, were found, which the patients were able to heal on their own or with symptomatic medication.
