Abstract

Background: In Thailand, colorectal cancer is coming to top five causes of cancer death. When sick with this disease, there will be a rapid mortality rate, the most of the cases will be found in the spread of the disease to any part of body systems. Screening and confirmation are necessary in the risk groups of colorectal cancer.

Objectives: To study the incidence of colorectal cancer in at-risk groups with FIT test and study the effectiveness of colonoscopy on the confirmation of colorectal cancer patients in the area of ​​Sichon District, Nakhon Si Thammarat Province

Methodology: This study is cross-sectional descriptive study design. There was 307 sample. Data collection tools were used the Fit test screening and the colonoscopy. Data was analyzed by descriptive statistics that are describe demographic characteristics, morbidity rate in the risk group and the incidence rate.

Result: For the risk groups screening, it was found that positive Fit test in 34.8% (107 cases). When confirmed by colonoscope was found abnormalities in 6.1% (19 cases) of all samples. As the colonoscopy founded polyp 4.2% (13 cases), diverticulum 0.6% (2 cases), rectal mass 0.3% (1 case), hemorrhoid 0.32% (1 case) and colon cancer 0.6% (2 cases)

Conclusion: Colorectal cancer is a public health problem. However, there is screening for risk groups and early detection of abnormalities, it will lead to a quick treatment system that can reduce the loss of the disease.
