Effects of Health literacy building model for food poisoning disease prevention among primary school, Regional Health 9.
Abstract
This action research aimed to develop and evaluate a model for Health literacy building for food poisoning disease prevention among primary school, Regional Health 9. The study was divided into 3 phases: Phase 1: analyzing the situation and area context by random sampling was the students in grade 4- 6 totally of 383 participants. Phase 2: The development model and testing in the school model area by applying the PAOR model are planning, action, observation, and reflection which the population and purposive sampling were 63 participants, Tools used in the study were focus group discussion. And Phase 3: evaluating the developed model. Data was collected through questionnaires. Descriptive and inferential statistics in terms of Paired Samples T- test were used to analyze quantitative data, while content analysis was applied to analyze qualitative data. The results revealed that:
- Health literacy to food poisoning disease prevention at a moderate level (90.1%) Behavior to prevent food poisoning at a moderate level (70.8%), Creating health literacy should not be done as a teaching curriculum but interspersed with school activities, such as games, online education
- Health literacy building model for food poisoning disease prevention among primary school, Regional Health 9 should consist of 1) Returning information to participate in planning
human resource preparation through capacity building 2) Integrated work in the form of working groups of educational institutions 3) Creating and developing risk communication to promote health literacy among educational personnel 4) selection of study area 5) Evaluation: After using a health literacy building program in 52 participants for 7 weeks, it was shown that the mean score of health literacy and behavior on prevention food poisoning disease significantly (p-value < 0.001)
In conclusion, developed model of the Health literacy building for food poisoning disease prevention among primary school can help improve health literacy and behaviors for food poisoning disease prevention.
