HEALTH LITERACY FACTORS INFLUENCING ON HEALTH BEHAVIOR OF POPULATION IN BUENG KAN PROVINCE

Abstract

This cross-sectional analytic research were to study health literacy level, health behavior level, health literacy factors influencing on health behavior level of population in Bueng Kan Province. The samples were 13,265 people aged 15 years and above in Bueng Kan Province. Data collection was performed by questionnaire. The data were analyzed by descriptive statistics using frequency, percentage, mean, standard deviation. Inferential statistics using multiple regression analysis was applied to analyze the influence of health literacy factors on health behavior level. The results revealed that the average overall health literacy of the samples was at fair level. The average health behavior was at good level. Health literacy factors influencing on health behavior comprised 6 components sorted by weight of regression coefficient, including self-management, access to health information and service, right decision, media and information literacy, health cognition, health communication. All 6 variables can predict health behavior level of the samples accounted for 27.3% (R2=0.273). Therefore, people in Bueng Kan Province should be developed in first priority on self-management skill for health behavior modification.
