Factors Affecting Health Care Behavior and Blood Sugar of Patients with Type 2 Diabetes, Klangwiang Subdistrict, Wiangsa District, Nan Province

Abstract

The purposes of this cross-sectional survey research were 1) to study the health care behaviors of patients with type 2 diabetes and 2) to study the factors affecting the health care behaviors of patients with type 2 diabetes. Data was collected by using questionnaires. The reliability test was conducted using Cronbach’s alpha which were 0.70-1.00. The sample consisted of 387 patients with type 2 diabetes living in Klang Wiang Sub-district, Wiang Sa District, Nan Province, with linear systematic sampling. Data were collected between January to December 2021. Descriptive statistics and multiple regression analysis were performed to analyze the data.

The results showed that most of the respondents had moderate level of behavioral performance. Factors affecting health care behavior and blood Sugar of patients with type 2 diabetes, Klangwiang Subdistrict, Wiangsa District, Nan Province as significant at 0.05 were social support, self-efficacy, perceived risk of disease and disease complications, marital status, excess waist circumference and stop smoking and effect size (β)at 0.34, 0.27, 0.20, 0.08, -0.07 and -0.08, respectively. These factors could predict health care behavior and blood sugar of patients with type 2 diabetes by 54.00%.
