Factors Related to Health-Promoting Behaviors for Prevention of Non-Communicable diseases among Working-Age Store Entrepreneur Moo 7 Bang-Chalong Sub District Bangplee District Samutprakarn Province

Abstract

This study was a descriptive correlational research. The purposes were to assess health-promoting for prevention of non-communicable diseases, and to examine the predictors related to health-promoting behaviors for prevention of non-communicable diseases among working-age shop operator. The sample was 127 working-age shop operator from Moo 7 Bang-Chalong Sub District, Bangplee District, Samutprakarn Province. They were selected by using the Krejcie and Morgan table. Data had been collected over 6 months from January, 1st, 2020 to June, 30th, 2020. The research’s questionnaires were validated by the experts. The alpha coefficient was 0.75-0.86. The data was analyzed by mean, standard deviation, Pearson product moment correlation, and Multiple Regression Analysis. The study found that 65.10% of the samples were female, with a mean age of 38.70 years (SD = 8.66), 64.70% had marital status, and 55.60% had education at a lower bachelor's degree. Their average monthly income was 19,283 baht, (SD=10,676.76). 83.60% had no congenital disease. 58.70% worked at normal hours. The average number of hours worked per day, 8 hours (SD = 11.95) and mean operational duration of 14.50 years (SD = 9.39). Factors associated with promoting behavior were income (r = 0.362, p = 0.006), perceived benefits of health promotion behavior (r=0.395, p<0.01), self-efficacy (r=0.464, p<0.01). These findings will be useful for the development of health promotion programs to prevent non-communicable diseases among working-age entrepreneurs at Moo 7 Bang-Chalong Sub District, Bangplee District, Samutprakarn Province.
