Abstract

The purpose of this descriptive research were to examine the relationship between personal factors, burden of care, social support and stress .The population of study was caregiver the patient with chronic diseases in community who was 20 years old or over and live in the service area of the Tambon Health Promotion Hospital. The samples were drawn by simple random sampling. A sample size was calculated effect size by Power Analysis which had a number 183 caregiver the patient with chronic diseases. The research instruments for collecting the data were the burden of care measurement, and social support and stress assessment form. The reliability of the burden of care measurement, and social support assessment form and stress assessment form were .93, .92 and .93 respectively. Data were analyzed in terms of frequency, percentage, mean, standard deviation and Pearson’s product moment correlation coefficient. The results revealed that the burden of care of overall and stress were moderate level. The social support were high level of overall. The overall burden of care was positive significant correlation with stress at .01 level (r =.640) and social support was negative significant correlation with stress at .01 level. (r = .334) These findings can be guided to reduce the stress of caregivers by give correct information or suggest a help source to caregivers so that they have less stress, affecting the quality of life of caregivers and the quality of care for chronic illness patients.
