Abstract

This research aimed to 1) study the situations and factors which can affect the surveillance prevention and control protocol of transmission diseases in Karp Cheong district, Surin Province 2) develop the surveillance prevention and control protocol of transmission diseases by village health volunteers in Kap Cheong district, Surin Province and 3) evaluate the Surveillance Prevention and control protocol of transmission diseases by village health volunteers in Karp Cheong district, Surin Province. The researcher collected and studied from primary data sources, quantity and quality secondary data sources. The sample consists of 148 village health volunteer in Karp Cheong district (15% simple randomization), 22 Public health personnel working in hospitals district health, and 24 community leaders/sub-district administrative organization representatives/kamnan/village headman which are purposive sampling. The data was conducted by an interview in-depth questionnaire, focus group discussion and development plan data, analyzed by frequency distribution, means, standard deviation, T-test and descriptive analysis.The results showed that he current state of the village health volunteers mostly had knowledge and understanding of surveillance, prevention and control protocol of transmission diseases in the community at a moderate level, 62.17%. The samples had an attitude of surveillance, prevention and control protocol of transmission diseases in the community at a moderate level and also a moderate level of practice in epidemiological surveillance operations which is 55.41%. The results of the development of a surveillance model for the prevention and control of communicable diseases consisted of 4 aspects; 1) Strategic plan preparation for enhancing knowledge, understanding, confidence and awareness of surveillance, prevention and control protocol of transmission diseases along the Thai-Cambodian border. 2) knowledge enhancement The understanding and awareness of the ongoing surveillance, prevention and control of communicable diseases along the Thai-Cambodian border among village health volunteers with having a mentor or buddy. 3) Participation with network partners 4) Communication and supervision and return information to the community. From the evaluation results of the development of a surveillance model for the prevention and control protocol of transmission diseases along the Thai-Cambodian border of village health volunteers by comparing mean scores of knowledge, attitudes, practices in epidemiological surveillance operations and participation in operational surveillance, control protocol of transmission diseases in the community of the village health volunteers between pre and post development, the mean score after development was significantly higher than before development at the .05 level.
