Abstract

Abstract

Objectives : 1) to develop a model for caring for patients with severe sepsis and septic shock, and 2) to evaluate the results of using the model for caring for sepsis patients. in severe sepsis and septic shock.

Research Methodology : Research and Development uses the Deming cycle model. The research was conducted between July - October 2023. The research population includes 52 nurses in the ward and 25 patients with sepsis admitted to the inpatient ward. Qualitative data were analyzed by content analysis. Quantitative data were analyzed using the Wilcoxon Signed Ranks Test to compare the efficiency of the nursing care model for patients with severe sepsis or septic shock.

Results : 1) The research contributed a patient care model for severe sepsis or septic shock. The checklist's ten items provide guidelines for developing patient care. 2) Nurses' Satisfaction with the model was at the most satisfactory level (mean = 4.58, S.D = .57, and 3). The analysis of the efficiency of the patient care model found that the number of patients with severe sepsis decreased with statistical significance. (p<.05)

Implications : This research can guide caring for patients with severe sepsis or septic shock. The nursing care model is applied to care for patients in wards to reduce the risk of complications from severe sepsis or septic shock, and mortality rates, which improve the standard of nursing care.
