This quasi-experimental research was aimed to the effects of a swallowing promotion program on the swallowing ability of stroke patients, Nong Bua Lamphu Hospital and to compare the swallowing ability of stroke patients with dysphagia before and after receiving a swallowing promotion program. The target group of stroke patients with dysphagia in this research were 240 patients who were admitted to the female medical ward, Nong Bua Lamphu Hospital. were randomly selected using a purposive sampling method, divided into 2 groups according to the time period they received treatment. There is a specific selection process. Research tools 1) general data recording form 2) assessment of readiness or swallowing skills according to guidelines and assessment of swallowing ability Quantitative data were analyzed using percentages, means, and standard deviations. and Inferential Statistics Analysis using Independent T-test.
Results were as follows : Stroke patients with dysphagia had difficulty swallowing skills and types of food. It was found that the length of time they were able to swallow is a statistically significant difference at the p<0.05. Complications: Aspirate pneumonia was significantly different at the p<0.05. When comparing the swallowing ability of stroke patients with dysphagia before and after receiving a swallowing promotion program. There is a statistically significant difference (p<0.001*). Swallowing promotion program on the swallowing ability of stroke patients with difficulty swallowing passed the assessment of readiness to swallow, demonstration, providing knowledge and exchanging opinions and demonstrations, focus on the patient's problems and practice in exercising the muscles controlling the lips and tongue. and swallowing exercises by multidisciplinary efforts and participation of patients and relatives Including activities provided by nurses and continuous assessment assistance for effective rehabilitation.
