Abstract

The study was aimed to set dental service fee list of Public Health Service Units, Ministry of Public Health. by investigating the total cost of dental service activities from July 2003 to June 2004. The calculation were based on labor cost, material cost and capital cost. The study revealed that the labor cost of dentists, dental nurses and dental assistants were 183, 120 and 80 baht respectively. The labor cost by service activities was calculated by average time used for each service and the salary, special allowance of the Permanent Secretary Office. Material cost was the sum of the cost of common material (ie., exploring set, globes, mask, saliva ejector). Amounting to 15.58 baht, the depreciation of dental bur, 16.25 baht; specific material cost used in the operation which was calculated from the average price and the amount used. The capital cost was confined to only the combination of the depreciation of dental unit and autoclave (25.70 baht) plus the depreciation of the building using the average of 12 m² or 0.06 baht/minute. The management cost was 20 percent of the total cost of each activity with additional 25 percent of the total for job improvement. Finally the total of all the costs list was used to set the dental service fee list which was proposed to be the guideline on dental service fee for the service units.
