Health Risk Assessment System Evaluation in Health Care Personnel of Sung Noen Hospital, Nakhon Ratchasima Province, 2007-2011

Abstract

         The purpose of this survey was to evaluate health risk assessment system in health care personnel of Sung Noen Hospital. Study design was evaluation research, using evaluation criteria from Occupational and Environmental Disease Office, 2011. It was composed of 3 elements: 1) management element; 2) health risk assessment and control element; and 3) monitor and evaluation element. Scientific equipments were used to measure light intensity, noise intensity and carbon dioxide levels resulting from bad ventilation system. Comparison to criteria was made. Assessment was accordingly based on counter measures. It was found that: first element was environment and safety policy and health promotion policy were clearly set up in this hospital and implemented by relevant and responsible committees. Second element was divided into 2 parts. 1) Firstly, in health, safety and environment assessment by using equipments to measure light intensity, noise intensity and carbon dioxide levels resulting from poor ventilation system, improvements were made during 1997-2011 so that the exceeding levels fell within the guideline. Secondly, physical examination services were divided into 2 parts; (1) annual general physical examination services, results were classified into 3 groups; healthy, risk and sick groups based on body mass index (BMI), fasting plasma glucose, dyslipidemia and blood pressure. It was found that healthy and risk group showed increasing trends in number in 2011 relative to 2010; (2) risk physical examination services, less number of target group underwent annual physical examination in 2011. Third element-evaluation, through the three years environmental quality and risk control improvements were reported consecutively leading to full compliance with the 3 evaluation criteria. In that connection, the operation of this hospital was classified as excellent- or at level 5. Hospital policies were set up for health promotion programs to strengthen the healthy and risk group, and monitor the sick group.
