Night Clinic, Udonthani, a Model for Disease Prevention
Abstract
Udonthani has started the Night Clinic Project to provide services in STD during 5 pm. To 9 pm daily except Sunday. The clinic staff are mainly form the STD and AIDS Control Section of The Provincial Public Health Office. The objectives of the project are to increase accessibility of care and to find an appropriate way to control and reduce STD and AIDS problems in the province.
The convenience of the people and the hospitable services with reasonable prize are emphasized in the clinic had served 9ม358 people in the first year. Most of them (70%) were indirect prostitutes. The STD were found in 720 cases (70%). The two most common diseases were gonorrhea (77.5%) and non-specific urethritis (13.4%). After the first year the project is found to be satisfied both by the staff and the clients. This project is applicable in other porvinces.
