Development of the Detection of Malaria and Filariasis in Maehongson Province

Abstract

This paper describes the development of the detection of malaria parasite and microfilaria from the same thick blood film. The study was carried out during February to April 1993 in Mae Sariang district and Sob Moey subdistrict, Maehongson province. A total of 9,446 thick blood films were examined by using microscopic examination. In Mae Sariang district, 236,61 samples tested positive with malaria and microfilaria, respectively. 50,75 samples in Sob Moey subdistrict were positive with malaria and microfilaria, respectively.
