Stroke Fast Track Running Bag

Abstract

Stroke fast track running bag is the innovation that help the nurse for taking care of acute stroke patients in the medical ward of Khon Kaen Hospital. Cause of problem and incident for taking care of acute stroke patients are the delay in treatment, lacking of equipments, thrombolytic drug (rt-PA) not available, nurse’s delay in drug administration within 4.5 hours (up to 11.04%), delay in drug administration (1.2%), and also the isolation of equipments and thrombolytic drug (rt-PA) in medical wards. With such problems, an innovation of “stroke fast track running bag” was created to reduce the period of times requitred for the preparation of equipments and provision of thrombolytic drug (rt-PA). The objectives of this study were describe the step required for the creation of the stroke fast track running bag and to evaluate the outcomes of the use and satisfaction assessment of users of the bag. As for the results, the creation of the bag was accomplished by applying the Lean concept. With the use of stroke fast frack running bag, the thrombolytic drug (rt-PA) administration was timely administered in all cases; and the satisfaction of personnel was found to be very high (up to 100.0% in most of the assessment criteria).  In conclusion, the stroke fast track running bag was found to be very helpful in the thrombolytic drug treatment resulting in the improvement of treatment outcomes for stroke patients.
