Intentional Replantation

Abstract

Intentional replantation is the final attempt to save a tooth when endodontic surgery is not feasible and previous treatment have been unsuccessful. In the first reported case, the tooth still had acceptable appearance and was asymptomatic after twelve yeas replantation. Radiographically there were radiolucency around the root and resorption defect in the apical area. In the second report case, the tooth #31 was tender to percussion and forming fistula on labial aspect of gingiva. An apicocetomy and retrofill was performed and the root was replanted in to the socket. The tooth required splinting between #31 and #41 with light cured composite resin. At sixth-month follow-up, clinical and radiograph show complete healing of the gingiva tissue and of the socket and periapical area with no sign of root resorption.
