Quality of Sonographic Image on Printing Paper by Using Olive Oil as Sound Media-คุณภาพของภาพถ่ายด้วยคลื่นเสียงความถี่สูง ที่ใช้น้ำมันมะกอกเป็นสื่อนำเสียง
บทคัดย่อ
This randomized controlled trial was conducted with an objective of comparison the quality of sonographic image on printing paper by using olive oil and ultrasound gel as sound media. Samples were randomly recruited from the routine ultrasound service with individualีs consent. Each patient underwent ultrasound scan using both olive oil and ultrasound gel as sound media, one media at a time. The sonographic images on the same plane were recorded on printing paper for each sound media. The quality of the images were blindly evaluated and rated with 1- 5 score by 3 obstetricians and 1 radiologist. Comparison was made employing t- test.
The sonographic image quality scores in both sound media, olive oil and ultrasound gel, the two were fair and the different scores between both groups was not statistically significant (p >0.05). Likewise, no statistical difference could be established on quality rated by each of the 4 experts between the two groups. The less-costly olive oil can, therefore be used as an alternative sonographic media of the ultrasound gel.
