Abstract

Acinetobacter baumanii is the serious in-hospital infectious pathogen around several countries in the world that including Thailand. The objective of this study is to identify the epidemiology of multi-drug resistant (MDR) Acinetobacter baumanii in Buengkan hospital from 1st January 2016 - 31th December 2019. The drug susceptility test was performed from total 615 patients that infected by A. baumanii by Kirby-Bauer disc diffusion to test with Aminoglycosides, Carbapenems, Fluoroquinolones, Beta-lactamase inhibitor,Extended-spectrum cephalosporins, and Folate pathway inhibitors. The study was analysed by descriptive statistcal analysis. The results are MDR A. baumanii 386 cases (62.76%) and mostly in the ICU. Trend of MDR A. baumanii was declined but the high virulence XDR A. baumanii was increased. In the overall nosocomial infection from A. baumanii are difficult to treat than the previous time and may increase the mortality of the patients. The new effective infection control intervention is the essential tool for prevention more seriously pathogen in the future.
