Talking Emergency Box
Abstract
Background: Drug Safety is a focus concern in Phrae Hospital especialy the safety of high alert drugs which can seriously harm if they are not taken exactly as directed. Consistency with the rational drug use policy and Thailand patient safety goals, Pharmaceutical Department of Phrae hospital has created an emergency box for resuscitation. Each box contains Adenosine injection, Adrenaline injection, Amiodarone injection, Atropine injection, Calcium Gluconate 10% injection, Diazepam injection, Glucose 50% injection, Magnesium sulfate 50% injection and Sodium Bicarbonate 7.5% injection. From monitoring during October 2019 to March 2020, it was found that 45.5% of users had difficulty accessing drug information and 89.1% propose for developing online drug label to facilitate the work and reduce medication error.
Objective: To develop an innovative talking emergency box use as a guide to support the work of medical staff and also prepare knowledge and understanding before the administration of the drug and prevention of medication error of 9 items in emergency box
Study design: Convert the speech into a QR code by using the Audio QR code program and take the QR code for each medication administration attach to the front of emergency box. Can be used by using mobile phone read QR code listening to medication administration information.
Result: After the launch of the talking emergency box and follow-up ,100% of users found that it was useful and ease to use and the total satisfaction was 93.8%.
Conclusion : The talking emergency box help to increase the quality of pharmaceutical Service mission , support drug safety system, rational drug use policy and patient and personnel safety goals.
