Drug distribution development results Erythropoietin in the cold chain system of patients with chronic kidney disease Phrae Hospital

Abstract

Black ground: Previously, Phrae Hospital had to prescribe Erythropoietin for patients to be injected at an early hospital. The problem was found that the patient did not bring a suitable container, which cound lead to ineffective drug and from the patient’s failure to inject for various causes such as death, high blood pressure, there may be residual drugs at home. Drug distribution development results Erythropoietin in the cold chain system of patient with chronic kidney disease Phrae Hospital help with the quality assurance of the drugs. It was also found that the value of dispensing from the drug store could be reduced.

Objective:     There is an economic value from dispensing Erythropoietin (EPO) in patients with non-Renal Replacement Therapy (non-RRT) and continuous ambulatory peritoneal dialysis. (CAPD)

Study design: There was a retrospective descriptive study compare prescribing information for Erythropoietin with the distribution of drug in the cold chain system of the patients receiving Erythropoietin in non-RRT and CAPD for 12 months from October 2018 to September 2019, all 8 districts in Phrae.

Results:         The quantity and value of drug distribution in cold chain system was lower  than that of prescribing patients for 9,940 units and the economic value is  1,825, 759.45 bath.

Conclusions:  Drug distribution development Erythropoietin in the cold chain system can reduce the cost of purchasing the drug in the hospital and increase the confidence in the quality of the drug before administration.
