Abstract

Introduction         In the past, Faculty of Medicine, Naresuan University (NU) had clinical radiology subject but this subject got cancelled later. After that, Faculty of Medicine decided to add contents of radiology into other subject. However, Phrae Hospital Medical Education Center (MEC) has teaching contents about radiology which taught by radiologists in some subject but not enough teaching hour for medical student to understand radiology and radiographic. So, it makes medical student not understand fundamental of radiology clearly which cause medical student face with obstacles during clinical learning.

Objective             To compare basics of radiographic diagnosis of each MEC and to evaluate radiographic diagnostic skills of medical student in clinical year.

Study Design      Focus on Analytic cross-section study of 100 medical student in clinical year, academic year 2561 from six MEC; Phrae hospital, Pichit hospital, Somdejphrajaotaksin maharaj hospital (TSM), Uttaradit hospital, Buddhachinaraj hospital and NU hospital. Assessment from 20 electronics test. Participant have to answer about spot diagnosis. Scores of this test will calculated by mean±SD, analyze information by t-test, one-way ANOVA, unavailable Gaussian regression, multivariable Gaussian regression and use partial correlation.

Results                 Compare number of teaching hours from each MEC, there had different of statistical significance (p-value <0.001). The average score of this test from six MEC and teaching hours had positive statistical significance (R 0.38, p-value<0.001). And the result of number of teaching extra hours by radiologists had increased one hour caused score of this test increase 0.25 (95%CI 0.13-0.38, p-value<0.001).

Conclusion           If the faculty has clinical radiology subject for 4th year medical student in clinical year or add extra courses by radiologists with enough teaching hours, it will make medical student understand fundamental of radiology clearly. This research can help the faculty to develop or arrange courses for medical student in clinical year, Naresuan University.
