Effectiveness of Implementing Nursing Management Guidelines among Patients with Hypertension Disease in Medical Ward, Phrae Hospital

Abstract

Background:   Hypertension is a sickness that has a proclivity for spreading. Particularly if patients suffer from hypertension failure to keep blood pressure levels within the normal range can lead to serious consequences, disability, and death. A study was conducted to confirm the efficacy of nursing management guidelines in hypertensive patients and found that it was discovered that it can assist lower blood pressure. However, there are no studies in Medical Ward. This study looked at hypertension patients who followed the guidelines, and whether it will affect the change in blood pressure values or not. The conclusions from this study will be used to advise the treatment of people with hypertension in the ward for internal medicine.

Objective:        To compare blood pressure values of hypertensive patients between groups receiving standard care and those receiving nursing management practices, and to assess nurses' and patients' satisfaction with the guidelines' implementation.

Study design:  Two-group quasi-experimental research was conducted in the medical ward of Phrae Hospital, comparing blood pressure before and after receiving the program, Between October 2020 and March 2021, and assessing the satisfaction of nurses and patients with the use of the guideline using percentage, mean, and standard deviation. and the t-test statistic was compared.

Result:             The mean systolic blood pressure decrease in the program group was 33 mmHg, while the mean diastolic blood pressure decrease in the program group was 18.33 mmHg. with the group receiving usual care (p-value. 001), nurses, and hypertension patients had high levels of satisfaction with the guidelines' implementation.

Conclusion:     Nursing management guidelines for hypertensive patients can aid in the reduction of blood pressure. including nurses’ and hypertensive patients’ satisfaction with the guideline's application, as a result, the guidelines should be followed in the wards that have patients with hypertensive who were admitted to improve the efficiency of providing care for hypertensive patients, which will lead to quality development in Phrae Hospital's services.
