Abstract

The objective of this case-control study was to study the factors influencing malaria infection among people in the Thai – Laos - Cambodia border district, Ubon Ratchathani Province. The sample group consisted of 482 people in the Thai-Laos-Cambodia border district. Data were collected using questionnaires created by the researcher from June 1, 2021 to May 31, 2022. Data were analyzed using descriptive statistics, frequency, percentage, mean, standard deviation, median, and 25th and 75th percentiles were also used. Correlation analysis was used to study the relationship between factors influencing malaria infection, using multiple logistic regression.

The results showed that the factor most influencing malaria control and prevention behavior of people in Ubon Ratchathani Province were that those with incomes of less than 5,500 baht were 1.45 times more likely to contract malaria than those with incomes greater than 5,500 baht (AOR = 1.45, 95% CI = 1.01-2.09).
