Article Publication Process
Step 1: Preliminary Assessment by the Editor
When an article is submitted, the editor conducts a preliminary assessment. This includes ensuring the article's content falls within the scope of the Journal of Primary Health Care (Northeastern Edition), checking for originality (i.e., no plagiarism), verifying the correct manuscript format as per the journal's guidelines, appropriate referencing, and assessing the article's initial quality for potential acceptance. If the article does not meet these criteria, the author is notified to make necessary corrections within a specified timeframe. Failure to make these corrections leads to the rejection of the article, with reasons provided. If the article meets the criteria, it is forwarded to at least two qualified experts for quality assessment, and the author is informed that the article is under review.
Step 2: Quality Assessment by Qualified Experts
This step involves the evaluation of the article's quality by experts, categorized into three possible outcomes: suitable for publication without changes, suitable for publication with suggested modifications, or not suitable for publication. Once the experts' feedback is received, the editor carefully considers all evaluations, summarizes the assessment results, and provides suggestions for improvements to the author.
Step 3: Revision and Re-evaluation
The editor checks whether the author has made the suggested modifications. If the revisions are not satisfactorily made without a valid reason, the editor may decide to reject the article. The number of revisions can vary, depending on the completeness of the article, but generally should not exceed three if the article is of good quality.
Step 4: Final Checks and Publication
The journal conducts a final check for spelling and formatting accuracy and then proceeds with the publication of the article.
