Private Health Expenditure Analysis in Thailand

Abstract

This quantitative research analyzed factors affecting private health expenditure in Thailand using secondary data from 1982 to 2009. It was found that private heath expenditure level depended not only on demand-side factors including social variables (density of community and number of aging people) and health variables (number of smoking people and number of patients in chronic diseases), but also on supply-side factors which was health resource variables (healthcare technology, number of physicians, and number of beds in private hospital).
