Development of Functional Competency Framework for Health Supervision of Regional Health Supervisors

Abstract

The objective of this study was to develop functional competencies framework of health supervision for regional health supervisor was be aimed to these research and conducted in two phases: (1) to identify functional competencies of the regional health supervisor, and (2) to create the competencies framework. Mixed method was used as research methodology. The results of the study showed that: (1) The framework of functional competencies for disease prevention and control of the regional health super visor was composed of eight components: coaching and mentoring, planning, research, monitoring and evaluation, development of quality standards, deploy the knowledge of disease prevention and control, coordination of health supervision, motivation for disease prevention and control. (2) The functional competencies framework of the regional health supervisor included 4 components; the competency name, the competency definition, competency proficiency level and competency behavior indicators. The con firmed framework was found to be appropriate and feasible, and it was composed of 8 competencies and 76 indicators.
