Success Factors on Best Practice Performance of the Immunization Program of District Health Promotion Service in 3 Southern Border Provinces, Thailand

The purpose of this study was to examine success factors on best practice performance of immunization program in 3 Southern Border Provinces of Thailand. Altogether 84 key informants were purposively selected. Qualitative data were collected, covering the period between January and July 2018 through in-depth interviewed with managers and workers, together with focus group discussion with the leaders of the communities, village health volunteers and people in areas of 9 public health services, 9 districts of 3 Southern Border Provinces. Content analysis was applied to ensure the validity of the study tools. The results showed that three factors affecting best practice performance on the immunization program of district health promotion service in the 3 provinces. These included (1) assignment of major and minor responsible health workers, (2) setting-up the operation process and working models, and (3) networking support and good relationship among all stakeholders. All 3 factors had successfully driven the immunization program which resulted in the increase of immunization coverage in the communities. Thus, ppolicy makers should continue to promot these 3 essential factors in all public health facilities throughout the 3 provinces in order to increase the coverage of immunization program and attain high level of herd immunity.
