Development of Health Data Center, Nakhon Ratchasima Province

Abstract

The objectives of this study were to assess the situation, problems and solutions of health in­formation, for design and development, along with evaluating the development of health data center of Nakhon Ratchasima Province. This action research divides the research into 3 phases such as: (1) Study the details situation and guidelines solutions to health information. (2) Design and develop health data center (3) Evaluate health data center development. The objective aims to study the situation, problems and solutions of health information, for design and development, along with evaluating the development of health data center of Nakhon Ratchasima Province. Collected data from 3 types, including group discussions, questionnaires and in-depth interviews. The research sample group is responsible for infor­mation technology of external agencies and workgroup in Nakhon Ratchasima Health Provincial Office. Qualitative data analysis is conducted by classification and classification of findings. For quantitative data analysis, we computed the percentage, mean, standard deviation and F–test. This research has been con­sidered and approved by the Human Ethics Research Committee of Nakhon Ratchasima Health Provincial Office, code KHE 2017-18. The finding revealed that (1) most service units forward information to many provincial agencies, causing the lack of a central searchable health database, there is a problem of completeness, accuracy, timeliness of information. The problem solving is the service units must forward information to the provincial level in the same format, and defined a policy allowing the district level to have a single database for searching purpose. Therefore, the information is accurate, complete, up-to-date at all times, (2) the design and development of health data center by developing the health data center into a single database format called the “Health Report Program”, consists of six groups, including mother and child group, youth group, working age group, elderly group, disabled group and other group is a web development system, set individual workplace goals, sub-districts, according to the 6 age groups. Health data and performance can be monitored in real time via the health data center and the monitoring cockpit system, and (3) the evaluation of the development of health data center found that the overall picture of the service unit. The satisfaction of the development of the health data center is at a high level. The information is accurate, complete, current, and has a high level of benefit in planning, controlling, directing and evaluating with high efficiency. Suggestions can be used to develop health data centers continuously and expand the results in other provincial health offices.
