Abstract

           A survey of 1,003 people, 336 males, 667 females aged 35-65 years in slum areas was conducted in 6 Chiang Mai Municipal Health Centres. Sixty two percent in male and sixty four percent in females had body mass index over 23 kg./m2. The highest rate was reported in the age group 45-55 years. This article describes a level of obesity, its complications, and risk in this group.
