Abstract

             The objective of this study was to strengthen potential of community in preventing acute diarrheal disease at Khlongdan sub-district, Ranod district, Songkhla province. There were 61 participants, comprising of community leaders, village health volunteers, migrant workers, sub-district administrative organization officers and a public health officer. Data collection was conducted by using questionnaire and observation record forms; and the data were analyzed with content analysis method. The results revealed that most participants were male (70.00%), average age was 29 years, and married (82.26%). Through participatory action conferences using A-I-C (Appreciate Influence Control) technique, participants were able to develop 4 projects for acute diarrhea prevention. The success factors identified in the study included: (1) active cooperation from 3 main sectors - health promoting hospital, sub-district administrative organization and community leaders, (2) academic support by specialists with local wisdom, and (3) unity between the community and migrant workers working in the area.
